You don't always see ideas evolving. Research often becomes visible only after the ideas have been polished into papers. By then, the uncertainty, false starts, surprising connections, and evolving questions have disappeared.
These Research Notes document the development of a research program as it unfolds through reading, conversation, experimentation, and writing. Many of these ideas will change substantially, and many of them will actually disappear entirely from the program.
These notes represent stages of thinking.
My research asks how interaction shapes the development of thought. Here are some notes that are of my own ways of making that development visible.
The interesting thing is the discontinuity between demonstrated capability immediately before the assessment and observable performance under assessment conditions.

As human-AI collaboration becomes more common, 'who had the idea?' may be a less useful question than 'how did the idea develop?'
